Indonesian fans set off fireworks at the Vietnam team’s hotel

Fireworks were set off towards the Le Meridien Jakarta hotel, where the Vietnamese national team is staying, around 4 a.m. today, March 21st.

An Indonesian football website posted a video showing fans firing fireworks with loud noises towards the Le Meridien Jakarta hotel. A team member shared, “The fireworks were launched outside the hotel, from around 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. However, it didn’t affect the Vietnamese team. The players said they were sleeping soundly at that time and were unaware of the incident.”

While some comments supported the act, most Indonesian fans expressed disapproval, considering it unsporting to disturb the sleep of visiting team players.

The Vietnamese team is staying at Le Meridien in Jakarta, conveniently located at a street corner for ease of travel but challenging to control externally. However, the hotel’s security is tight, with all vehicles checked and screened for explosives and firearms. Guests are searched before entering, and personal items must go through a scanner.

To ensure safety, most Vietnamese players are accommodated on a separate floor due to room availability, while the coaching staff is placed on another floor.
