VPF announces the start date of the V-League 1 2024/2025 season.

This afternoon (10/4), the Vietnam Professional Football Company (VPF) convened a meeting at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) headquarters to discuss the organization of the 2024/25 National Professional Football Leagues. The meeting saw the participation of 24 out of 25 professional clubs, signaling a united front in the preparations for the upcoming season.

Notable attendees included Dang Ha Viet, Director of the Sports Administration; Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of VFF and Chairman of VPF; Nguyen Quoc Hoi, permanent member of the VFF Executive Committee and Deputy Chairman of VPF; Duong Nghiep Khoi, General Secretary of VFF; Dang Thanh Hạ, Head of VFF’s Refereeing Department; and Nguyen Minh Ngoc, CEO of VPF.

Nguyễn Minh Ngọc presented the season’s draft regulations, match schedule, and addressed organizational matters, emphasizing the collective effort needed from all clubs to overcome challenges and ensure a successful season. The meeting highlighted the importance of preparation for the implementation of VAR technology, legal matters, and anti-doping efforts.

Clubs also had the opportunity to discuss and provide constructive feedback on the draft regulations and match schedule. Based on this input, VPF will refine and implement these details for the forthcoming season.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc presents the draft schedule and some issues related to the organization of the new season.

The 2024/25 season is scheduled to start in mid-August 2024 and conclude by the end of June 2025, spanning 217 days. This schedule aims to accommodate weekend matches, allowing ample rest between games and encouraging fan attendance.

However, concerns were raised about the short preparation time between seasons. All 13 V.League clubs in attendance agreed to propose delaying the season start to September to ensure teams are adequately prepared. This adjustment may result in a more condensed match schedule to meet the June 2025 end date. Following the conference, VPF will solicit further feedback from clubs before submitting a finalized schedule proposal to the VFF Executive Committee.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the application of VAR technology, stressing its effectiveness and role in ensuring accuracy and fairness in the league. VPF and the VFF Refereeing Department are finalizing infrastructure and personnel preparations to apply VAR across all V.League 1 matches in the 2024/25 season.

This proactive approach to addressing both technical and logistical aspects of league organization underscores the dedication of VPF and VFF to enhancing the quality and integrity of Vietnamese professional football.
