VPF to maximize VAR usage in round 19 of Night Wolf V-League 1 – 2023/2024

Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has announced that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will be maximized in the upcoming Round 19 of V-League 2023/2024. This decision comes as the competition heats up with crucial matches impacting the final standings.

Round 19 will feature seven matches spread over May 18 and 19, with VAR being utilized in four of these games. The matches set to benefit from VAR are Ha Tinh vs. Ho Chi Minh FC, Hanoi FC vs. Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Song Lam Nghe An vs. Khanh Hoa, and The Cong Viettel vs. Nam Dinh.

The remaining three matches, which will not have VAR, are Binh Duong vs.  Hanoi Police FC, Binh Dinh vs. Hai Phong , and Thanh Hoa vs. Quang Nam.

Among the matches with VAR, the encounters between The Cong Viettel and Nam Định, as well as Hanoi FC and Hoang Anh Gia Lai, are anticipated to draw significant attention from fans. Additionally, the SLNA vs. Khánh Hòa match is seen as a crucial “relegation battle,” further justifying the need for VAR.

From the introduction of VAR in the V-League, the organizers decided that up to four matches per round, from Hà Tĩnh northwards, would have access to this technology. With the current rounds being pivotal in determining the league’s final standings, VPF is committed to ensuring VAR is used in four matches each round to help referees avoid unnecessary mistakes.
