Vietnamese archer Do Thi Anh Nguyet has officially secured her spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the 15th Vietnamese athlete to be confirmed for the Games. The World Archery Federation (World Archery) announced that Anh Nguyet is among the final five athletes to qualify based on the world rankings in the individual event. The Hanoi-based archer will join Le Quoc Phong to compete in the mixed team recurve event at the Paris Olympics.
Anh Nguyet achieved her high ranking through a series of impressive performances at major competitions. She earned 27 points at the 2023 Asian Championships, 21 points at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD), 20 points at the 2023 World Championships, and 17 points at the 2023 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament. This marks the second consecutive Olympic appearance for Vietnam’s top female archer in the recurve event.
The qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics brings significant rewards for Anh Nguyet and other athletes. According to the managing unit, Hanoi is the only locality that rewards 816 million VND to athletes who qualify for the Olympics (17 million VND per person per month for four years). Both Ha Thi Linh (boxing) and Do Thi Anh Nguyet are set to receive nearly 1 billion VND each.
As of now, Vietnam has secured 15 spots for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The athletes who have qualified include Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Nguyen Huy Hoang and Vo Thi My Tien (swimming), Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh and Le Duc Phat (badminton), Vo Thi Kim Anh and Ha Thi Linh (boxing), Le Quoc Phong and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (archery), and Hoang Thi Tinh (judo).
Anh Nguyet’s achievement adds to Vietnam’s growing list of athletes who will compete in Paris, showcasing the nation’s talent and dedication to sports.
