
Hanoi, 26 May, 2025 – Vietnam’s women’s football team will continue to have a spot in the AFC Women’s Champions League after Ho Chi Minh City FC reached the semifinals of the 2024/2025 season.
Recently, Vietnamese women’s club football received good news as it ranked 5th in the AFC Women’s Club Rankings. This achievement is attributed to the performance of Ho Chi Minh City FC in the 2024/2025 AFC Women’s Champions League.
Countries ranked higher than Vietnam in the AFC Women’s Club Rankings are Australia, South Korea, Japan, and China. The rankings are based on the performance in the AFC Women’s Champions League.
With the 5th-place finish, Vietnamese women’s football will continue to have a representative in the upcoming AFC Women’s Champions League. The winner of this year’s national women’s football league will earn a spot in the continental competition.
According to the 2024/2025 regulations, the top 8 ranked countries will have one team directly qualify for the group stage, while countries ranked 9th to 21st will send a team to the qualifiers, where four teams will advance to the group stage.
In the 2024/2025 AFC Women’s Champions League, Ho Chi Minh City FC, representing Vietnam, made a significant impact. After advancing from the group stage, Huynh Nhu and her teammates staged an incredible comeback in the quarterfinals, defeating Abu Dhabi Country Club (UAE) 5-4.
Ho Chi Minh City FC’s journey ended in the semifinals when they lost to Wuhan Jiangda (China), the team that went on to win the tournament.
