Hanoi, 29 May, 2025 – U23 Vietnam has a great opportunity to qualify for the AFC U23 Championship finals after being placed in a relatively easy group.
As part of the top-seed group, U23 Vietnam is in a manageable group following the draw for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. U23 Vietnam is in Group C alongside U23 Yemen, U23 Singapore, and U23 Bangladesh.
The U23 Asian qualifiers will consist of 11 groups, with the top team from each group securing a spot in the finals. Additionally, the four best second-placed teams will compete for the remaining four spots.
Being in the top-seed group allows U23 Vietnam to avoid facing many strong opponents. In Group C, the toughest contender for the top spot against U23 Vietnam is U23 Yemen.
Most recently, U23 Vietnam defeated U23 Yemen 1-0 in the 2024 AFC U23 qualifiers. Therefore, if U23 Vietnam performs at their best, they can definitely repeat this achievement with a squad that showed impressive form at a friendly tournament in China in March 2025.
According to the plan, the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers will take place in September 2025. U23 Vietnam will have an important training camp during the upcoming FIFA Days to prepare for the qualifiers.
