Hanoi Police FC sign U23 Vietnam star to bolster defense

Hanoi, 31 July, 2025 – The Vietnamese football transfer market continues to heat up as Hanoi Police FC confirmed the signing of Pham Ly Duc, a standout center-back who played a pivotal role in helping U23 Vietnam secure their third consecutive title at the 2025 AFF U23 Championship.

Ly Duc, who had an impressive campaign with Hoang Anh Gia Lai  in the 2024/25 season, further elevated his reputation by delivering solid performances at the U23 regional tournament. Notably, he scored the decisive goal against U23 Cambodia in the group stage, underlining his aerial threat in set-piece situations.

The arrival of Ly Duc adds significant depth to Hanoi Police FC’s defensive line as the club faces a challenging season ahead. In addition to domestic competitions—the National Super Cup, V.League 1, and National Cup—the team will also compete in the ASEAN Club Championship  and the AFC Champions League Two. His versatility and leadership at the back will be crucial for managing the congested fixture schedule.

On the other side, Hoang Anh Gia Lai continue to face major setbacks as they have lost several key players during this transfer window, including Le Van Son, Tran Minh Vuong, and Chau Ngoc Quang. The departure of Ly Duc further weakens their squad, forcing the club to rely heavily on young talents for the upcoming 2025/26 V.League 1 season.

With this signing, Hanoi Police FC not only strengthens their defense but also sends a strong message about their ambitions to compete on multiple fronts in the new campaign.
