Vietnam women’s team receives huge bonus after reach Serenity Cup 2025 semifinals

Hai Phong, 13 August, 2025 – On the evening of August 12 at Lach Tray Stadium in Hai Phong, the Vietnam women’s national football team secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Thailand in the final Group A match of the ASEAN Women’s Cup 2025. Defender Tran Thi Thu Thao scored the only goal of the match, ensuring Vietnam’s place in the semifinals as group winners.

With this win, coach Mai Duc Chung’s side advanced to the knockout stage, where they will face the runners-up of Group B in the semifinal. The goal, coming in the 36th minute after Huynh Nhu’s skillful run and precise cross, capped a solid performance in which Vietnam dominated possession and created multiple scoring opportunities, while the defense remained composed to keep a clean sheet.

Following the victory, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced a bonus of VND 500 million to reward and motivate the team. In addition, the host locality of the tournament also contributed a further VND 500 million. In total, the Vietnam women’s national team will receive VND 1 billion for their efforts in defeating Thailand and securing the top spot in Group A.

The financial reward serves as recognition of the team’s consistent performances throughout the group stage, where they overcame strong regional rivals to position themselves as one of the top contenders for the title.

The semifinal of the ASEAN Women’s Cup 2025 featuring Vietnam is scheduled for 19:30 on August 16. Their opponent will be determined after the conclusion of the final Group B fixtures on August 13. Currently, U23 Australia, Myanmar, and the Philippines are in a tight race for the remaining knockout spots, with all three teams still in contention for a semifinal berth.

Vietnam’s advancement also continues coach Mai Duc Chung’s impressive track record in regional competitions, as the team looks to maintain their momentum and push toward lifting the trophy on home soil. The combination of solid defense, quick wing play, and experienced leadership has been key to their success so far, and the upcoming semifinal promises to be another highly anticipated clash for Vietnamese fans.
