Hong Linh Ha Tinh Defeat Thanh Hoa despite power outage incident

Ha Tinh, 27 August, 2025 – Drama unfolded at Ha Tinh Stadium on August 27 during the Round 3 clash between Ha Tinh and Thanh Hoa in the LP Bank V.League 1 –  2025/2026, when a sudden power outage disrupted the match midway through the second half. Despite the delay, the home side held firm to claim a crucial 1-0 victory.

The incident occurred in the 66th minute, when the floodlight system of Ha Tinh Stadium unexpectedly malfunctioned, leaving the pitch in darkness and forcing the referee to suspend play. Players, officials, and thousands of fans inside the venue were left waiting anxiously as stadium staff scrambled to resolve the issue.

Shortly after, the tournament organizers released an official statement clarifying the situation: “At the 66th minute of the match at Ha Tinh Stadium, an incident occurred with the stadium’s electrical system. The power failure may have been caused by the lingering effects of Typhoon No. 5, which recently impacted the Ha Tinh area. The stadium’s organizing committee acted quickly to fix the issue, and the match resumed after a 24-minute delay. Importantly, the television broadcast system and LED advertising boards were not affected by this incident.”

When play resumed, the scoreline remained unchanged from the first half. Ha Tinh had already taken the lead in the 44th minute through Victor Atshimene, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot home what proved to be the match-winning goal. The Nigerian striker’s decisive finish came just before halftime and ultimately ensured the hosts celebrated all three points.

Although Thanh Hoa tried to regroup and push forward after the interruption, their attacking efforts lacked precision and creativity. Ha Tinh’s defense, well-marshaled and disciplined, successfully neutralized the visitors’ attempts to equalize. Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Cong was also solid between the posts, securing a clean sheet for his side.

The victory marked Ha Tinh’s second win of the season, lifting them to six points after three matches and placing them among the early contenders in the top half of the standings. For coach Nguyen Thanh Cong and his players, the result highlighted their growing confidence and resilience, especially in overcoming an unexpected disruption mid-match.

In stark contrast, the defeat left Thanh Hoa rooted to the bottom of the table. With just one point from their opening three fixtures, the former V-League champions face mounting pressure to turn their form around. Their lack of sharpness in attack and defensive lapses have become pressing concerns for coach Popov’s squad.

Despite the unusual circumstances, Ha Tinh fans went home delighted as their team not only overcame Thanh Hoa but also navigated a rare stadium blackout to secure three valuable points in front of their home supporters.
