Hanoi, 17 September, 2025 – Hanoi FC have officially announced the appointment of Yusuke Adachi as interim head coach for the upcoming phase of the V.League 1 2025/2026 season, following the departure of Makoto Teguramori. The decision has drawn attention as the capital club move quickly to steady their campaign after a poor start.
Hanoi FC’s struggles early in the season have been evident. After three rounds of V.League 1 action, the club have yet to record a win, collecting just one point and languishing near the bottom of the table. To compound matters, they were also eliminated from the LPBank Securities National Cup in the opening round, falling 0-1 to The Cong Viettel. These disappointing results prompted the board to part ways with head coach Makoto Teguramori after only a few months in charge.
In an unexpected twist, Hanoi FC have turned to another Japanese figure to take charge. Yusuke Adachi, who has been involved with the club since June 2025, will serve as interim head coach. Born in 1961, Adachi is a respected football expert with extensive coaching and technical experience, and he is no stranger to Vietnamese football. He previously held the role of Technical Director of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), before later serving as General Director of Binh Phuoc FC.
Hanoi FC’s management expressed confidence in Adachi’s ability to stabilize the team during this difficult stretch. With a deep understanding of Vietnamese football and the club’s structure, he is seen as a safe pair of hands capable of guiding Hanoi FC back to form.
Adachi’s first assignment as interim head coach is a high-profile clash against city rivals The Cong Viettel on September 20. The match is expected to be a stern test for the underperforming Hanoi side, who desperately need a victory to boost morale and climb the standings.
The appointment marks the first managerial change of the V.League 1 2025/2026 season, once again highlighting the unforgiving nature of Vietnam’s top flight. Clubs remain under constant pressure to deliver results, and Hanoi FC—traditionally one of the league’s strongest teams—are no exception.
While the future beyond this interim period remains uncertain, Hanoi FC’s leadership emphasized that the immediate priority is improving performances and regaining momentum. Should Adachi succeed in turning the team’s fortunes around, he could well position himself for a longer stay in the dugout.
For now, all eyes will be on September 20, when Hanoi FC step onto the pitch under new leadership, seeking redemption against The Cong Viettel.
