China, 22 September, 2025 – Vietnam futsal team continued their impressive run in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers with a resounding 7-2 victory over China on the afternoon of September 22. The win, coming just two days after a 9-1 demolition of Hong Kong (China), put coach Diego Giustozzi’s side firmly in control of their group with six points from two matches.
Vietnam entered the match brimming with confidence and wasted no time stamping their authority. Barely 30 seconds into play, Doan Phat struck the opening goal to ignite celebrations. The Vietnamese players kept pressing high and doubled their lead a minute later through Ngoc Anh. Just moments after, the same player added his second, rifling a powerful angled shot into the roof of the net to make it 3-0 within the first four minutes.
The early blitz stunned China, who had no choice but to push forward in search of a response. Vietnam’s goalkeeper Van Tu, however, stood tall with a string of crucial saves to maintain the three-goal cushion. As China struggled to cope with the quick transitions, Vietnam continued to capitalize. Dạ Hải and Thinh Phat both found the net before the halftime whistle, giving the hosts a commanding 5-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Giustozzi rotated his squad, giving opportunities to several bench players while maintaining control of the game. Despite easing the tempo, Vietnam remained dangerous in attack. Thinh Phat struck again in the 33rd minute, extending the lead to 6-0 and all but sealing the result.
China managed to salvage some pride with two late goals in the 37th and 39th minutes, but the outcome had long been decided. Vietnam comfortably secured a 7-2 win, underlining their dominance in both attack and defense.
With back-to-back victories, Vietnam top the group with six points and a staggering +13 goal difference. The result not only strengthens their bid to reach the AFC Futsal Asian Cup finals in 2026 but also highlights the depth and attacking flair of Giustozzi’s squad.
Speaking after the match, the coaching staff emphasized the importance of maintaining focus despite the positive start. Vietnam still face tougher tests ahead, but the early results provide a significant boost to their qualification campaign.
The team will now look to carry their momentum into the remaining group matches, confident that they are on course to book their ticket to the continental finals.
