Coach Kim Sang Sik sets 6-points target as Vietnam prepare to face Nepal in Asian Cup qualifiers

Ho Chi Minh City, 8 October 2025 – Head coach Kim Sang Sik has made it clear that Vietnam aim to secure all six points in their two upcoming matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers, emphasizing confidence, focus, and determination despite the absence of key midfielder Quang Hai.

During the pre-match press conference ahead of the Vietnam vs Nepal clash in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers, head coach Kim Sang Sik outlined the team’s goals and provided his assessment of the opponent. “First and foremost, our target for the next two matches is to collect all six points. That is our only goal,” he affirmed. “Through video analysis, we’ve identified two key Nepalese players — numbers 7 and 14 — who are particularly dangerous and must be tightly marked.”

The Korean strategist emphasized that his focus remains on Vietnam’s playing style rather than the opposition’s tactics. “What we need to do is prepare our own strategy and execute our game plan effectively,” he explained. “Tomorrow will be our third match of the Asian Cup Qualifiers, and since we’re playing at home, neither I nor the players will hold back. We will give our best performance.”

Vietnam’s squad for this international window will be without star midfielder Quang Hai due to injury. Coach Kim Sang Sik admitted that his absence is a significant loss. “Quang Hai is a technically gifted player, especially with his left foot. He’s capable of taking free kicks and creating sudden breakthroughs with his passing. It’s unfortunate that he can’t play this time, but I believe Hoang Duc and Thanh Long will step up and perform well.”

Team captain Do Duy Manh also expressed strong determination on behalf of the players: “This is a very important match. My teammates and I have prepared thoroughly, and we still have one more training session to fine-tune everything. I hope our fans will fill the stands to support us. We’ll fight with everything we have for the pride of the Vietnamese national team.”

Addressing questions about the weather and conditions, Duy Manh shared that the team has adapted well after several days of training in the southern climate. “The weather here is quite different from the North, but as professional players, we have to adjust quickly. The goal remains the same — to win. No match is ever easy, but I’ll keep motivating the team so we can earn a victory together.”

With a clear mindset and unified spirit, the Vietnam national team is determined to begin this crucial stage of the Asian Cup Qualifiers with a confident performance at home, aiming to collect maximum points and strengthen their path toward the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
