Hanoi, 8 October, 2025 – Vietnamese football has received great news as FIFA officially appointed Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), to the FIFA National Teams Competitions Committee for the 2025–2029 term — marking another milestone in the country’s growing international football influence.
Vietnamese football celebrated a proud moment when FIFA announced the appointment of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), as a member of the FIFA National Teams Competitions Committee for the 2025–2029 term. The decision was officially ratified by the FIFA Council during its meeting on October 2, 2025.
The FIFA National Teams Competitions Committee plays a crucial advisory role, assisting the FIFA Council in shaping strategies, organizing, and managing key international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, FIFA U-20 World Cup, FIFA U-17 World Cup, and other competitions under the FIFA system. Members of this committee are selected from among senior football administrators worldwide, recognized for their leadership and contributions to the sport.
In addition to Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan’s appointment, FIFA also named two other Vietnamese representatives to its specialized committees. VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu has been appointed to the FIFA Medical Committee, while VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha joins the FIFA Women’s Football Committee — further affirming Vietnam’s growing role in the global football community.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan currently holds several prominent positions within regional and continental football organizations. He serves as a member of the AFC Executive Committee, Chairman of the AFC and AFF Competitions Committees, and a member of the AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee for the 2023–2027 term. Additionally, the AFC has entrusted him with the role of Head of the Men’s Football Event at the 2026 Asian Games (Asiad) to be held in Nagoya, Japan.
This latest appointment by FIFA underscores international recognition of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan’s professional capabilities and his significant contributions to football governance in Asia and beyond. It also highlights Vietnam’s expanding presence and influence in global football management — a source of pride for Vietnamese football on the international stage.
