South Korea, 5 November 2025 – Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh opened her Korea Masters 2025 campaign with an impressive straight-game win, advancing to the second round of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament.
Vietnamese badminton ace Nguyen Thuy Linh delivered a commanding performance on the opening day of the Korea Masters 2025, easily defeating Han Yu Chen of Chinese Taipei to move into the second round of the women’s singles event.
Seeded No. 2 and ranked 24th in the world, Nguyen Thuy Linh took full advantage of her favorable draw against Han Yu Chen, who currently stands at world No. 174. Despite recently recovering from injury, the Vietnamese star displayed excellent form and sharp footwork, wrapping up the match in under 30 minutes with a 2-0 victory (21-9, 21-15).
The Korea Masters 2025 is part of the BWF World Tour Super 300 series, offering a total prize pool of USD 240,000 (approximately VND 6 billion). Being one of the top seeds provides Nguyen Thuy Linh a smoother path in the early rounds, helping her conserve energy for tougher challenges ahead.
In the second round, scheduled for November 6, Thuy Linh will face the winner of the match between Hung Yi Ting (Chinese Taipei, world No. 70) and Keisha Fatimah Azzahra (Azerbaijan, world No. 75). With her consistent form and growing confidence, she is expected to continue her strong run in the tournament.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles category, Nguyen Hai Dang (world No. 55) also lived up to expectations, securing a convincing 2-0 (21-13, 21-13) victory over Kuo Kuan Lin of Chinese Taipei (world No. 95). His next opponent will be Jeon Hyeok Jin of South Korea, the fourth seed and world No. 35. Given his recent rise in form, the young Vietnamese player is poised to cause an upset against the home favorite.
In the men’s doubles event, the pair Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh were eliminated in the first round after a hard-fought 1-2 loss to the Korean duo Noh Jin Seong and Park Seung Min.
The strong performances of Nguyen Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Dang at the Korea Masters 2025 mark another positive sign for Vietnam badminton on the international stage, as both players continue to gain valuable experience against high-level competition.
