Nguyen Thuy Linh cruises into quarterfinals at Korea Masters 2025

South Korea, 6 November 2025 – Vietnam’s top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh continued her impressive form at the Korea Masters 2025, needing just 28 minutes to defeat Hung Yi-ting 21-18, 21-9 and advance to the quarterfinals of the BWF World Tour Super 300 event.

In fine form and full of confidence, Nguyen Thuy Linh advanced to the quarterfinals of the Korea Masters 2025 after a commanding straight-game win over Taiwanese player Hung Yi-ting on the afternoon of November 6. The world No. 24 only needed 28 minutes to seal her victory, showcasing her sharp techniques and tactical maturity.

The Korea Masters, part of the BWF World Tour Super 300, is taking place from November 4 to 9 in Iksan, Jeonbuk Province, South Korea, featuring several top Asian shuttlers. With top seeds Kim Ga Eun (Korea) and Manami Suizu (Japan) withdrawing, Thuy Linh entered the tournament as the second seed, significantly boosting her chances of achieving a high finish.

After an easy win in the opening round against Han Yu Chen (Taiwan) with a score of 21-9, 21-15, the Phu Tho-born shuttler continued her strong form against Hung Yi-ting (world No. 70). In the first game, Thuy Linh initially trailed 6-11 but rallied impressively after the interval to equalize and then overtake her opponent at 14-13. With superior pace and precision, she wrapped up the first game 21-18.

Maintaining full control in the second game, Thuy Linh displayed calm and consistency, quickly establishing a lead and dominating exchanges as Hung’s stamina faded. The Vietnamese star sealed the game 21-9, completing another convincing straight-game win.

With this result, Nguyen Thuy Linh advances to the quarterfinals, where she will face Lee So Yul (Korea, world No. 110) on November 7.

Born on November 20, 1997, in Phu Tho, Thuy Linh began her professional badminton journey at age 14. She became national champion at just 18 and has since established herself as Vietnam’s No.1 female shuttler, with eight consecutive national titles and three straight Vietnam Open championships (2022–2024). She also represented Vietnam at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the men’s singles event, Nguyen Hai Dang (world No. 55) started strong with a 2-0 win over Kuo Kuan Lin (Taiwan) but fell 1-2 to fourth seed Jeon Hyeok Jin (Korea) in the next round. Meanwhile, the men’s doubles pair Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh exited early after losing 1-2 to Korea’s Park Seung Min and Noh Jin Seong.

The Korea Masters Super 300 is a mid-tier tournament within the BWF World Tour structure, ranking below the Super 750 and Super 1000 series but above Super 100 events. The tournament offers 7,000 ranking points to the champion and a total prize purse of USD 240,000.
