Hanoi, 31 December 2025 – On the afternoon of December 31, the Vietnam Sports Authority officially announced the results of the 2025 National Outstanding Athlete, Coach and Team Awards. As widely expected, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh was named Outstanding Athlete of the Year.
Trinh Thu Vinh enjoyed a remarkable 2025. At SEA Games 33, she won four gold medals and set three SEA Games records. Beyond the regional Games, Thu Vinh also claimed gold in the 10m mixed team air pistol event at the Asian Cup 2025, underlining her status as one of Vietnam’s top athletes.
Finishing second in the voting was runner Nguyen Thi Oanh, who secured three gold medals at SEA Games 33. The Bac Ninh-born athlete once again asserted her dominance in regional middle- and long-distance events.

Footballer Nguyen Dinh Bac ranked third with 693 points. The young forward enjoyed a successful year with his club and the national teams, and recently earned the Vietnam Silver Ball 2025, confirming his strong progress in both domestic and international competitions.
In the Outstanding Coach category, Kim Sang-sik was honored for an exceptional year. In 2025, the South Korean coach guided Vietnam to the AFF Cup title, led U23 Vietnam to the Southeast Asian championship, and helped U22 Vietnam capture the SEA Games gold medal.
For Outstanding Team of the Year, U22 Vietnam received top honors after their dramatic victory over hosts Thailand in the SEA Games 33 final. The triumph marked Vietnam’s third SEA Games gold medal in men’s football, capping off a highly successful year for Vietnamese sports on the regional stage.
