Japan, 31 January 2026 – Vietnamese volleyball star Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was recently highlighted by the reputable global volleyball platform Volleyball World after her standout performance at the SV-League All-Star Games.
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy became the center of attention at the SV-League All-Star Games 2025/26 after winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the friendly showcase match, which featured 28 of the top women’s volleyball stars competing in Japan. The event took place on January 31 at Glion Arena Kobe.
Playing for Team Nichika, the outside hitter of the Vietnam women’s national team played a key role in her side’s convincing 3-0 victory over Team Yoshino.
Volleyball World later published an article mentioning Thanh Thuy in the headline: “Thanh Thuy claims MVP as Team Nichika dominate Team Yoshino at Japan’s All-Star Game festival.”
The outlet wrote: “More than 8,320 spectators attended this year’s Daido Life SV.League Women’s All-Star Game on Saturday at Glion Arena in Kobe, while fans around the world also followed the action through live streaming on VBTV. Team Nichika defeated Team Yoshino 3-0, and Vietnamese star Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was named the match’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).”

Volleyball World described the All-Star event as a special and entertaining volleyball spectacle that delivered a high-level experience, mixed with fun and creative rules decided by a ‘lucky wheel.’ These included 14 players per team, allowing four touches, using only feet, and even coaches serving. Set 2 followed a shortened format, played to just 15 points. In the end, Team Nichika, captained by middle blocker Nichika Yamada and coached by Kumi Nakada, defeated Team Yoshino, led by captain Yoshino Sato and coach Kodai Nakaya, with a 3-0 scoreline (25-19, 15-12, 25-14).
The website also highlighted Thanh Thuy’s award: “After the match, four individual honors were presented. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (Gunma Green Wings), representing the winning team, earned the MVP title. Rui Nonaka received the Fighting Spirit award; Yukiko Wada claimed Speed King for the fastest serve at 95.5 km/h; and libero Miiku Iwasawa won Best Entertainment.”
It is clear that the All-Star Game attracted major attention, and Thanh Thuy gained strong recognition from global fans thanks to her impressive display.
This season, she remains a key player for Gunma Green Wings, scoring 381 points in 25 matches, ranking 15th overall in the league. She was also recently voted the Most Popular Athlete at the Victory Cup 2025.
