Big win over PVF-CAND, Ninh Binh FC hold their place in top three

Ninh Binh, 18 April 2026 – Ninh Binh FC defeated PVF-CAND 3–0 in Round 19 on the evening of April 17, securing their third consecutive win in V.League 1 2025/26.

After the national team break in late March, Nguyen Hoang Duc was still unavailable due to injury. However, Ninh Binh continued their strong run thanks to the performances of several U23 players, especially Le Van Thuan. Their recent schedule also proved favorable, facing teams battling relegation such as Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, and PVF-CAND.

Returning home after two 2–1 away wins, Ninh Binh hosted PVF-CAND in what also marked the debut of head coach Bae Ji-won. The home side struggled early and nearly conceded in the 23rd minute when Dung Quang Nho lost possession, allowing Joseph Mpande to break into the box, but his shot was saved by Dang Van Lam.

Despite being under pressure, Ninh Binh opened the scoring in the 35th minute. Geovane Magno won the ball and quickly set up Pham Gia Hung, who controlled well before unleashing a powerful long-range shot into the right corner. Just three minutes later, another counter-attack saw Truong Tien Anh assist Tran Thanh Trung, who calmly finished to double the lead.

PVF-CAND started the second half brightly but were denied by the woodwork and an offside goal. Ninh Binh then capitalized again in the 60th minute, as Imoh Friday set up Le Van Thuan, who finished with a clever backheel to make it 3–0.

The 2006-born midfielder has now scored in three consecutive matches, with his goals proving decisive. The victory lifts Ninh Binh to 37 points, strengthening their hold on third place while keeping pace with The Cong Viettel and Hanoi Police FC.

However, tougher challenges await coach Bae Ji-won’s side, with upcoming fixtures against Hanoi FC, The Cong Viettel, and Hai Phong FC set to test their title ambitions.
