Coach of Australia U17 praises Vietnam U17

Indonesia, 21 April 2026 – Vietnam U17 during a press conference on April 21. The performances of the young Vietnamese players have clearly impressed the experienced coach.

According to Veart, Vietnam’s players possess excellent individual technique and quick transitions—qualities his team must be wary of in defense. “We have controlled matches well so far, but this game will be different. The players must stay fully focused for the entire 90 minutes and avoid mistakes,” he said.

U17 Australia are the defending champions and are aiming to retain their title. In the group stage, they won all three matches against Brunei, Singapore, and Cambodia, scoring 15 goals without conceding. While those numbers are impressive, their true strengths and weaknesses may not have been fully tested due to the relatively lower quality of opposition—unlike in other groups, particularly Group A where Vietnam proved their strength against Malaysia and Indonesia.

Assessing his team’s journey so far, Veart noted that U17 Australia have faced various challenges and are building toward long-term goals, including the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup. However, he admitted that his team must raise their level significantly when facing Vietnam.

“Vietnam are the strongest opponent we have faced in this tournament. The upcoming semi-final will be highly competitive and of high quality. We must elevate our performance to a new level against them. It’s also a great opportunity to prepare for the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026,” Veart emphasized.
