Vietnam secured second gold medal at the 2026 Asian Beach Games

Hainan, 25 April 2026 – On April 25, Vietnam’s second gold also came from the track and field events. Long jumper Pham Van Nghia claimed the top podium spot with a distance of 7.44m. He achieved this mark on his second attempt, and despite strong efforts from his rivals in the remaining rounds, none could surpass his result.

This marks Vietnam’s second gold medal at the Games, following the earlier victory of Ha Thi Thuy Hang, who won the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.16m.

On the same day, Vietnam also added two bronze medals. In traditional boat racing, the women’s team—who had previously won silver in the 100m event—secured bronze in the 200m race with a time of 54.839 seconds, finishing behind host China and Thailand.

Meanwhile, in the women’s 5km open water swimming event, Vo Thi My Tien earned a bronze medal with a time of 1 hour, 1 minute, and 57.07 seconds. The gold and silver medals in this event were both claimed by Chinese athletes.

As of 1:00 PM on April 25, Vietnam’s delegation had collected 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes, temporarily placing fifth in the overall medal standings at the 2026 Asian Beach Games.
