Ho Chi Minh City, 10 May 2026 – Vietnam’s esports national team finished second overall at the inaugural SEA Esports Nations Cup 2026 with 390 points, trailing only Indonesia, who topped the standings with 446 points. Thailand secured third place with 190 points after two days of competition at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center.
The tournament, part of Vietnam GameVerse 2026, marked the first Southeast Asian esports event held at national team level. A total of 87 athletes from 11 countries competed across several titles, including PUBG Mobile, Teamfight Tactics (TFT), Total Football, and Crossfire Legends.
The championship used a medal-based points system to determine the overall rankings. Individual gold medals were worth 100 points, silver 60, and bronze 30. Team events carried greater value to emphasize teamwork and strategy, while additional bonus points were introduced for women’s categories to encourage female participation in regional esports.
PUBG Mobile delivered some of the tournament’s most exciting moments. Indonesian players Satar and Yummy claimed gold and silver in the individual category, while Vietnam celebrated success in the Duo event thanks to Nguyen Anh Quan and Phan Van Dong, known as Levis and Win. The Vietnamese pair produced a dramatic performance in the final round to secure the gold medal.

In TFT, Indonesian player Ina Nanande won the men’s division, ahead of Boomhae from Thailand. Singapore’s Cheebies captured the women’s title, while Vietnam’s Manhdayne earned silver. Two bronze medals in the women’s category also went to Vietnam through Hoangphanhanh, alongside Ambrosine from Brunei.
Vietnam also impressed in Total Football, where Doan Trong Tan, known as TunTun, defeated opponents from Myanmar and Malaysia to reach the final against Thailand’s Nathawat Satake (Jacob). Despite leading 5-2 at one stage, TunTun eventually suffered a heartbreaking 5-6 defeat across two legs and settled for silver.
The final event, Crossfire Legends, brought the tournament to an emotional finish. Indonesia defeated host nation Vietnam in the grand final to claim another gold medal, while the Philippines and Malaysia shared bronze.
Organized by the Southeast Asia Esports Federation alongside Vietnam GameVerse and VNGGames, the SEA Esports Nations Cup is set to become an annual event. The tournament aims to strengthen Southeast Asia’s esports ecosystem and establish a clearer pathway from regional competition to major international events such as the SEA Games and Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Vietnam GameVerse 2026 concluded successfully in Ho Chi Minh City under the theme “Do Local – Go Global.” The event featured the Vietnam Game Awards, cosplay competitions, gaming showcases, networking programs, and community entertainment activities, highlighting the rapid growth of Vietnam’s gaming and esports industry.
