Ulaanbaatar 27 June 2026 – Vietnam made a stunning statement at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, turning heads across the continent with a series of impressive performances against some of Asia’s strongest teams. At the heart of that remarkable campaign were Vietnamese-American twin sisters Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy, widely known as the Truong Twins.
From the qualifying round, the duo showcased the high-level basketball skills they developed in the United States. Controlling the pace of the game with confidence, they knocked down clutch three-pointers and spearheaded Vietnam’s unbeaten run against Iran, the Maldives, and Kazakhstan. Their outstanding performances helped Vietnam advance to the knockout stage as the top team in the group before eventually falling to powerhouse China in a closely contested quarterfinal.

The Truong Twins’ impact at the tournament was no surprise to those familiar with their basketball journey. Born in Houston, Texas, both sisters earned full athletic scholarships to Gonzaga University, where they competed in NCAA Division I, one of the highest levels of collegiate basketball in the world. Their experience in one of basketball’s most competitive environments has played a key role in shaping them into two of Vietnam’s most influential players.
Before their impressive showing at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, the twins had already established themselves as key figures in Vietnamese basketball. They led Vietnam to a historic gold medal in the women’s 3×3 event at the 32nd SEA Games and later guided the national team to the Asia Tour 3×3 title in Manila, Philippines.
Off the court, the Truong Twins continue to enjoy tremendous popularity among Vietnamese fans. Online communities dedicated to the sisters attract tens of thousands of followers who closely follow their journey. Their humble and approachable personalities, combined with their fearless style of play, have made them more than just successful athletes. Today, they stand as role models for a new generation of young Vietnamese basketball players, inspiring more children to embrace the sport and dream of representing their country on the international stage.
