Ho Chi Minh City 1 celebrate their 15th Women’s National League title

Ho Chi Minh City, 18 Oct 2026 – Ho Chi Minh City 1 celebrated their eighth consecutive Vietnamese Women’s National League title on October 18 despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Thai Nguyen T&T in Round 13 of the 2026 Women’s National Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup.

Having already secured the championship with two rounds to spare, Ho Chi Minh City I entered their penultimate fixture knowing that the result would not affect their title triumph. However, Thai Nguyen T&T had plenty to play for, with the visitors determined to strengthen their position in the race for second place against Hanoi I.

Persistent rain before and during the match at Ngai Giao Stadium made playing conditions difficult, but Thai Nguyen T&T adapted quickly and took the initiative from the opening minutes.

Their positive approach paid off in the ninth minute when Bich Thuy found the net to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead.

Ho Chi Minh City I responded by pushing more players forward in search of an equaliser. Thuy Trang came close in the 17th minute with a dangerous effort, but the hosts had to wait until the 28th minute to restore parity.

Phan Thi Trang capitalised on a turnover in midfield, accelerated past the opposition defence and finished confidently in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

Both teams continued to compete evenly for the remainder of the first half, with neither side able to establish a decisive advantage before the interval.

After the restart, Ho Chi Minh City I increased their attacking pressure and created several opportunities. However, their finishing lacked the accuracy needed to complete the comeback.

Thai Nguyen T&T remained dangerous on the counterattack, knowing that victory could prove important in their battle with Hanoi I for the runners-up position.

The decisive moment arrived in the 80th minute when Bich Thuy delivered a well-placed cross following a quick attacking move. Thu Thin rose above the defence and directed a header into the net, restoring Thai Nguyen T&T’s lead at 2-1.

The visitors successfully protected their advantage in the closing stages to secure all three points, temporarily moving above Hanoi I into second place in the standings.

Despite the defeat, the afternoon belonged to Ho Chi Minh City I, who celebrated another historic achievement in Vietnam women’s football.

The club had already secured the 2026 Women’s National Championship title with two matches remaining, extending their remarkable run to eight consecutive league championships.

More significantly, the triumph marked Ho Chi Minh City I’s 15th national league title, further strengthening their status as the most successful club in the history of Vietnamese women’s domestic football.

The championship presentation ceremony was attended by Vietnam Football Federation Vice President Tran Anh Tu, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Deputy Director Nguyen Nam Nhan, and Thai Son Bac Company General Director Tran Anh Minh.

While Thai Nguyen T&T left Ngai Giao Stadium with an important victory in their pursuit of second place, Ho Chi Minh City I had an even greater achievement to celebrate.

Their latest championship reflects years of sustained success and consistency, with the club continuing to set the benchmark for women’s football in Vietnam.

Eight consecutive titles and 15 championships overall underline Ho Chi Minh City I’s extraordinary dominance, as the team add another chapter to their remarkable history in the domestic women’s game.
