Hanoi, 14 May, 2025 – Hanoi Police FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Buriram United in the first leg of the 2024/2025 ASEAN Champions Cup final at Hang Day Stadium. With the result still open, the second leg between the two sides is expected to be thrilling and intense.
Speaking to the media after the match, coach Alexandre Polking said: “It was a high-quality game between two strong teams. I’m satisfied with what my players showed, especially in the first half when we controlled the game and created many chances.”
Despite not securing a win at home, Polking remains confident in his team’s chances. He stated: “Buriram will have the home advantage and strong crowd support, but my players have experience and composure. They need to stay calm, enjoy the atmosphere, and give everything on the pitch. We are a quality team, full of belief and hunger to win the cup. That’s why we are going to Buriram — to fight and bring the title back to Hanoi.”
On the other side, Buriram United head coach Osmar Loss admitted: “I didn’t like Hanoi Police FC’s approach. They pressed aggressively and marked tightly, which made it hard for us to build up play. Their players were confident in tight spaces and switched play very well. We need to improve our defensive movement and press more effectively in the second leg.”
