On the afternoon of June 6, the club shared the news via their official social media account: “The journey in the red jersey will continue to be written with one of the most experienced and resilient players in the team. Right-back Vu Van Thanh has officially signed a new contract, extending until 2028. This is a confirmation of our trust, long-term development direction, and ambition to reach new heights with Hanoi Police FC. Let’s look forward to Van Thanh’s strong runs, his rapid wing plays, and his relentless fighting spirit in the upcoming journey.”
This move by Hanoi Police FC has put an end to rumors about Van Thanh joining their city rivals, Viettel FC. Earlier, many sources suggested that the Hai Duong native would leave Hanoi Police FC after the 2024-2025 season, when his previous contract was set to expire. It was rumored that Viettel FC had approached Van Thanh and reached some preliminary agreements with the 1996-born defender. However, Van Thanh’s destination remains Hanoi Police FC.
Van Thanh joined Hanoi Police FC from Hoang Anh Gia Lai at the start of the 2023 season. During his time there, he achieved his first V-League championship. Currently, he and the club still have the goal of finishing in the top 3 of the V-League and winning the 2024-2025 national cup.
