Indonesia, 9 August, 2025 – Vietnam U21 women’s volleyball team continued their impressive form at the 2025 U21 World Championship with a convincing 3-1 victory over Canada U21 on the afternoon of August 9. Coming into the match with back-to-back wins, coach Trong Linh’s squad showcased confidence, solid teamwork, and clinical execution to secure their third consecutive triumph, earning an early ticket to the knockout stage.

The opening set saw both sides trading points in the early stages, with neither able to establish a clear lead. However, Vietnam soon began to take control thanks to the attacking prowess of Dang Hong, Nhu Anh, and Phuong Quynh. Their sharp finishing and effective transitions allowed Vietnam to pull away, eventually closing out the set 25-19.

Set two turned into a thrilling battle as Canada raised their level, forcing Vietnam into a more defensive posture at times. Despite having a set point, Vietnam failed to convert, allowing Canada to rally and edge ahead with a narrow 26-24 win, leveling the match at 1-1.

Determined to regain control, Vietnam entered the third set with renewed focus and tactical adjustments. Improved blocking at the net and well-timed quick attacks proved decisive, as Vietnam neutralized Canada’s hitters and steadily built a lead. Maintaining their composure, the Vietnamese players closed the set 25-19, restoring their advantage at 2-1.

The fourth set was a display of total dominance from Vietnam. Starting with an extraordinary 13-0 run, they completely dismantled Canada’s defense, leaving their opponents unable to respond. Vietnam’s aggressive serves, flawless coordination, and relentless pressure overwhelmed the Canadians, who struggled to win points. The set ended in emphatic fashion at 25-5, sealing a 3-1 match victory for the Southeast Asian side.

This win not only marked Vietnam’s third consecutive triumph in the tournament but also confirmed their place in the knockout stage. Their consistent performances have established them as one of the standout teams in the competition so far.

Currently, Vietnam U21 share the top spot in their group with Argentina U21, both holding perfect records. The two will face off on August 11 in what promises to be a high-stakes encounter that could determine the group leader. Vietnam will then wrap up their group stage campaign against Puerto Rico U21 on August 12.

With a blend of talented young players, disciplined tactics, and growing confidence, Vietnam U21 are emerging as a serious contender for a deep run in the 2025 U21 World Championship. If they maintain their current form, they could well be on course for one of their most memorable international campaigns in recent years.
