Hanoi, 9 November 2025 – On November 9, the U22 Vietnam national team officially regrouped to begin preparations for their SEA Games 33 campaign. With a tight schedule and minimal rest time, the squad will embark on a demanding journey that includes international competition and an overseas training camp before heading to Thailand for the regional event.
U22 Vietnam national team have officially returned to training today (November 9) as they aim for the gold medal at SEA Games 33. The schedule is expected to be extremely intense, with little to no rest for most players.
A majority of the squad members were called up immediately after completing a series of high-intensity matches in Round 11 of the V.League 1 2025/2026, which concluded on November 8. Notably, 19 of the 26 players summoned will not be able to join the team on the opening day due to ongoing club commitments. The full roster is expected to be assembled only by late November 10, once the domestic league fixtures wrap up.
Upon having a complete squad, U22 Vietnam will depart for Chengdu (China) to participate in the CFA Team China Panda Cup 2025 — a friendly tournament featuring four national U22 teams: China, South Korea, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. With head coach Kim Sang Sik currently occupied with the senior national team, the U22 side will be led at the Panda Cup by coach Dinh Hong Vinh.
Following the conclusion of the Panda Cup 2025, the team will move into a crucial final preparation phase starting November 23, serving as the last rehearsal before the SEA Games. During this period, the squad will train intensively in Vung Tau, focusing on tactical refinement and fitness conditioning.
According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will travel to Thailand on December 2 to officially begin their SEA Games 33 campaign, where the team will once again be under the direct guidance of head coach Kim Sang Sik.
Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has set a clear objective for this tournament — reclaiming the SEA Games gold medal after missing out in previous editions. With a challenging training program, international competition at the Panda Cup, and a rigorous domestic league schedule, U22 Vietnam are determined to achieve the best possible form before competing for regional glory in December.
