Vietnam shooting team secures two more golds, reaching SEA Games 33 target

Bangkok, 19 December 2025 – Vietnam’s shooting team claimed two crucial gold medals on the morning of December 19, officially fulfilling their target of seven golds at SEA Games 33 and still holding the chance to exceed expectations later in the day.

Vietnamese shooters delivered another strong performance on the morning of December 19, winning two gold medals in the men’s team events and completing the seven-gold target set before SEA Games 33-2025. The achievements came in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team event and the men’s 50m rifle three positions team event, further underlining Vietnam’s strength in shooting at this year’s Games.

In the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team event, the trio of Pham Quang Huy, Tran Cong Hieu and Ha Minh Thanh produced the highest combined score to secure the gold medal. The Vietnamese team finished first with a total of 1,700 points, ahead of Indonesia in second place and Thailand in third.

Momentum continued in the men’s 50m rifle three positions team event, where Nguyen Thanh Nam, Nguyen Van Quan and Phung Viet Dung combined for 1,715 points to take another gold medal for Vietnam. These two victories in the morning session brought the total gold medal tally of the Vietnam shooting team to seven, exactly matching the target set prior to the SEA Games 33 campaign.

Despite already meeting their goal, the Vietnam shooting team still have opportunities to go beyond expectations. In the afternoon session, the finals of the individual events will take place. In the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol individual final, Vietnam will be represented by Pham Quang Huy and Ha Minh Thanh, both aiming to claim their first individual SEA Games gold medals. Success in these finals would allow the shooting team to surpass the seven-gold milestone.

The shooting events at SEA Games 33 conclude on December 19, with the final medal standings to be confirmed after the afternoon finals, potentially closing a highly successful campaign for Vietnam’s shooting team.
