Malaysia, 28 January 2026 – Selangor claimed a convincing 2-0 victory over Hanoi Police FC on the evening of January 28 in the 2025/26 Southeast Asian Club Championship, using home advantage and high-tempo football to dominate large periods of the match and eliminate the Vietnamese side at the group stage.
From the opening whistle, the Malaysian team pushed their defensive line high and repeatedly attacked down both flanks. Hanoi Police FC’s backline was forced to work under heavy pressure, especially against Selangor’s sharp counter-attacks. Despite creating several dangerous chances in the first half, the hosts could not find the breakthrough, while Hanoi Police FC also had a few efforts of their own but lacked the accuracy to score. The first 45 minutes ended goalless.

After the break, Hanoi Police FC showed more initiative and improved their overall shape. However, Selangor remained more efficient in the final third. In the 60th minute, Faisal Halim reacted quickest to a loose ball after an initial effort was blocked, firing home the opening goal. Just nine minutes later, the midfielder struck again with a powerful long-range shot to make it 2-0.
In the closing stages, Hanoi Police FC pushed forward in search of a response. Phan Van Duc, Leo Artur, and Van Do all had opportunities, but Selangor’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Kalamullah Al Hafiz producing a focused performance to preserve the clean sheet.
The 2-0 result keeps Selangor top of the group, while Hanoi Police FC officially bow out of the competition at the group stage.
