Japan, 7 February 2026 – Despite their best efforts, Thanh Thuy and Bich Thuy were both unable to secure victories on a day when Gunma Green Wings and Okayama Seagulls had to face stronger opponents.
In Round 15 of the SV League, Gunma Green Wings of Thanh Thuy took on Osaka Marvelous, the reigning champions of the competition. The gap in class was evident as Osaka completely controlled the match with a solid defense and efficient attacking play. Despite the determined efforts of Thanh Thuy and her teammates, Gunma were forced to accept a straight-sets defeat, losing 0–3 with scores of 15–25, 20–25, and 16–25.
Meanwhile, Okayama Seagulls of Bich Thuy were also unable to spring a surprise against Queenseis Kariya. Facing an opponent with superior depth, especially two outstanding foreign players, Okayama fought bravely but lacked consistency at crucial moments. In the second set, they at one point led by three points, but Queenseis managed to regain control and edged out the set after a tense exchange of points. In the end, Okayama lost 0–3 with scores of 20–25, 25–27, and 18–25.
Despite another winless outing, Bich Thuy remained a bright spot for Okayama Seagulls thanks to her effective blocking and significant scoring contribution. However, the defeat marked the team’s 23rd loss in 27 matches in the Japanese top-flight season 2025/26.
Having to face a series of top-ranked opponents has made the SV League journey extremely challenging for both Thanh Thuy and Bich Thuy. Nevertheless, both players continue to show strong fighting spirit and determination to hold their ground in one of Asia’s most demanding volleyball leagues.
After losing four of their last five matches, Gunma Green Wings have dropped to seventh place in the SV League standings with a record of 16 wins and 13 losses. The risk of falling out of the Top 8 — the positions that qualify for the knockout stage — is significant, as Thanh Thuy and her teammates have already played 29 matches, while teams below them such as Ageo Medics (14 wins, 12 losses) and Kurobe Aqua Fairries (13 wins, 13 losses) have played three fewer matches. Meanwhile, Okayama Seagulls remain stuck near the bottom of the table with a record of 4 wins and 23 losses.
