Midfielder Thai Son, once a favored pupil of Coach Troussier, is now determined to impress Coach Hoang Anh Tuan at the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024.
U23 Vietnam continues its intense training in preparation for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024, with an upcoming friendly match against U23 Jordan scheduled for tonight, April 10. This match serves as an opportunity for Coach Hoang Anh Tuan to review the team’s roster before finalizing the official list.
Speaking to the media during U23 Vietnam’s latest training session, midfielder Nguyen Thai Son shared: “We are excited to adapt to the conditions in Qatar in preparation for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024. The entire team is ready, striving daily towards the tournament.”
Despite being considered one of the most promising young players and having been given numerous opportunities to play from club level to the national team over the past year, Thai Son has yet to have the chance to showcase his abilities in the youth national team’s lineup under Coach Hoang Anh Tuan.
Thai Son stated, “I don’t feel out of place joining the team and training under Coach Hoang Anh Tuan. Of course, I will have to work hard to perform well in training and hopefully be given the opportunity to play. I have been to Qatar to compete in the Asian Cup 2023.
That tournament taught me many valuable lessons. I will apply what I have learned to contribute my utmost effort to U23 Vietnam at this AFC U23 Asian Cup.”
Following recent unsatisfactory results of Vietnamese football at international tournaments, U23 Vietnam has garnered significant attention and encouragement from fans. Everyone hopes that Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will mark a new beginning at the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024.
Thai Son added, “I understand the expectations from Vietnamese football fans for the U23 national team at the tournament. It’s not just me; surely the whole team will try our best, playing with all our might for the national colors. Our immediate goal is to strive for the best results in each match, aiming to advance beyond the group stage, and then set our sights on further goals.”
According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam will have a tactical meeting this morning (April 10) to prepare for the friendly match against U23 Jordan. The match will take place at 21:00 local time on the same day (1:00 AM on April 11, Vietnam time).
