Hanoi I had a promising start to the National Women’s Football Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2024, defeating a strong Than Khoang San Vietnam (Than KSVN) team in a match that concluded this afternoon (May 2).
Hanoi I and Than KSVN were seen as evenly matched, both fielding strong squads and regarded as contenders for the championship. The match began with an open and dynamic style, with both teams showing attacking intent. Despite Than KSVN’s better possession, Hanoi I’s players had more dangerous chances. However, poor finishing led to a goalless draw at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Hanoi I pushed forward with more intensity, creating several dangerous chances in front of Than KSVN’s goalkeeper Khong Thi Hang. This attacking effort paid off at the 60th minute when striker Hai Yen scored the opening goal.
After conceding, Than KSVN tried to retaliate, pressing forward towards the end of the match. However, their attacks lacked penetration, making it easy for Hanoi’s defense to repel them from outside the penalty area. Losing 1-0 to Hanoi I in their first match, Than KSVN’s championship aspirations have been somewhat shaken.
In another match played simultaneously, Phong Phu Ha Nam dominated a youthful Hanoi II team, securing a 3-0 victory.
The championship will continue on May 6 with two matches: Ho Chi Minh City I vs. Ho Chi Minh City II, and Thai Nguyen T&T vs. Son La.
