As part of their preparation for the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship and the 2025 AFC U17 Qualifiers, the Vietnam U16 national team, under the guidance of head coach Tran Minh Chien, will begin their training camp at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center on May 23, with 30 selected players.
The squad for this training camp primarily consists of players who participated in the previous U17 national team camp in April. In addition, Coach Tran Minh Chien has included several new faces such as Cao Cuong, Anh Viet, Van Bach, and Duy Dang from PVF, Duy Long from Ba Ria Vung Tau, Nguyen Luc and Thien Phu from Hanoi, Van Thai from The Cong Viettel, Thai Hoa from Binh Duong, and Thai Hieu from SHB Da Nang.
Coach Tran Minh Chien stated that the team will continue to train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center until their departure for Indonesia to compete in the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship, scheduled from June 21 to July 4 in Surakarta. During the initial training phase, the team will play three friendly matches against local clubs Phu Dong, Kon Tum, and PVF.
The AFF has announced that the draw and match schedule for the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship will take place at 2 PM on May 30.
“The goal is to provide the players with the best preparation possible for the upcoming tournaments,” said Coach Tran Minh Chien. “We have a mix of experienced players and new talents who are eager to prove themselves. This training camp will focus on building team cohesion and sharpening our tactics.”
