Nam Dinh FC continued their impressive form in the V.League 1-2023/2024 with a resounding 5-2 victory over Thanh Hoa, solidifying their lead at the top of the table.
The match saw Nam Dinh taking control early on, with Minh Quang opening the scoring in the 12th minute. The home team quickly doubled their lead in the 33rd minute through Van Long’s precise finish. Despite a strong effort from Thanh Hoa, who managed to pull one back in the 53rd minute, Nam Dinh regained their two-goal cushion shortly after with a strike from Minh Dan in the 72nd minute.
Thanh Hoa showed resilience, reducing the deficit again, but Nam Dinh’s offensive prowess was too much to handle. The visitors added two more goals, with Rafaelson sealing the 5-2 victory and ensuring Nam Dinh’s dominance.
This win puts Nam Dinh at 42 points, extending their lead to 8 points over second-placed Binh Dinh. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa remains in a precarious position, sitting in ninth place with 29 points, just above the play-off zone.
Coach Nguyen Van Sy praised his team’s performance, emphasizing their attacking efficiency and defensive solidity. “Our players showed great determination and executed our game plan perfectly. This victory is crucial as we aim to secure the top spot in the league,” Van Sy stated.
On the other side, Coach Ljupko Petrovic of Thanh Hoa acknowledged the challenges faced by his team. “We need to improve our defense and capitalize on our chances. Nam Dinh is a strong team, and today’s match highlighted areas we must work on,” Petrovic remarked.
As the season enters its final stretch, Nam Dinh’s consistency and offensive firepower make them strong contenders for the title. Their recent victories have solidified their position at the top, but they must maintain their form to secure the championship. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa needs to address their defensive issues and gather points to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle.
