Vietnam women’s volleyball team achieves a historic milestone at the world championship

In the bronze medal match at the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup, Vietnam faced a formidable opponent, Belgium, ranked 13th in the world. Our girls played with immense national pride, creating a historic moment for Vietnamese women’s volleyball.

The Vietnamese women’s volleyball team triumphed over Belgium in a thrilling four-set match to secure third place at the FIVB Challenger Cup. This is the first time in history that Vietnam has broken into the top three at an FIVB world-level tournament.

The match was intensely competitive from the start, with both teams displaying exceptional skills and determination. Vietnam won the first set 25-23, showing strong defensive and offensive strategies. However, Belgium fought back in the second set, winning 25-23 and leveling the match.

Vietnam regained their momentum in the third set, winning 25-20, with standout performances from key players like Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and captain Thanh Thuy. Their combined efforts and tactical plays outmaneuvered the Belgian team.

The fourth set saw Vietnam dominate, maintaining consistent pressure on Belgium and exploiting weaknesses in their defense. With a score of 25-17, Vietnam sealed their historic victory and claimed the bronze medal.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Vietnamese sports, showcasing the growth and potential of women’s volleyball in the country.
