Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung has officially signed decision establishing the Vietnam sports delegation for the 33rd Summer Olympics to be held in Paris, France, from July 17 to August 12, 2024.
According to the decision, the Vietnam Sports Delegation comprises 39 members, including one head of delegation, 32 athletes, coaches, and experts, two doctors, and four officials. The head of the delegation will be Dang Ha Viet, the Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training.
The selection of the 32 athletes, coaches, and experts is based on the number of sports in which Vietnam has qualified for the Olympics. These sports include cycling, shooting, archery, judo, weightlifting, rowing, canoeing, boxing, athletics, swimming, and badminton. Among them, Vietnam has a total of 16 athletes (14 who have secured official qualification spots and 2 who received wildcard entries).

Currently, all preparation work is nearly complete. Most of the athletes who have qualified for the Olympics are training abroad and will travel directly to Paris when the Olympic Village opens on July 20. A few athletes still training in Vietnam will attend the departure ceremony in Hanoi along with the delegation’s officials and doctors before traveling to Paris to join the rest of the team.
