The Vietnam women’s futsal team creates a “shock,” with a chance to win the championship in China

The Vietnam women’s futsal team caused a stir with a remarkable 2-2 draw against Iran on the afternoon of July 13. This result gives coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang’s squad a significant chance to lift the championship trophy at the ongoing tournament in China.

Following their 4-2 victory over host China on the evening of July 12, the Vietnam women’s futsal team entered the match against Iran with high confidence, despite the latter being considered a much stronger opponent.

Combining the experience of veteran players with the energy of some new faces, the Vietnam women’s futsal team showed no fear against the two-time Asian champions. In the 5th minute, Bui Thi Trang opened the scoring with a precise low shot. The Iranian team demonstrated their class by equalizing just before the end of the first half.

In the second half, Iran increased their pressure, making the Vietnamese players work hard to defend. Despite the relentless attacks, the courage and determination of captain Thanh Hang and her teammates prevented Iran from taking the lead. Remarkably, the Vietnam women’s futsal team went ahead 2-1 in the 35th minute when Ngoc Han sent a pass to the far post for Van Anh to slot the ball into the net.

In the final minutes, Iran played power-play and managed to equalize in the 37th minute, bringing the score to 2-2, which remained until the end of the match.

With this result, the Vietnam women’s futsal team now has a significant opportunity to win the championship at the tournament in China if they can secure a victory against Uzbekistan in their final match on July 15.
