The archery match featuring Do Thi Anh Nguyet at the Paris 2024 Olympics has been rescheduled due to weather conditions. Initially set for 00:42 on August 1st (Vietnam time), the match between Do Thi Anh Nguyet and Mobina Fallah (Iran) has been postponed to 01:03 on August 2nd. The decision was made by the event organizers after unexpected rain and insufficient lighting conditions disrupted the schedule.
This delay is a result of the inclement weather impacting outdoor sports, like archery, at the Olympic venue in Paris. The weather-related challenges, particularly the storms, made it difficult to maintain adequate lighting for the competition.
Do Thi Anh Nguyet, competing in her second Olympic Games, has shown considerable progress. She scored 648 points to rank 37th in the ranking round. This marks an improvement from her performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she finished 49th with 628 points.
Mobina Fallah, Anh Nguyet’s opponent, is making her Olympic debut. In the ranking round, Fallah performed well, scoring 652 points to secure the 28th position. The match promises to be a close contest given the comparable scores of both archers in the ranking round.
In addition to Anh Nguyet’s event, Le Quoc Phong will also be competing in the round of 32 for the men’s individual recurve event. He faces Dan Olaru from Moldova, a seasoned archer. Dan Olaru scored 671 points in the ranking round, placing him 18th. He is a notable figure in Moldovan sports, having been the youngest Olympian for Moldova at the London 2012 Games at just 15 years and 266 days old. Olaru has also had the honor of carrying Moldova’s flag at three Olympic Games (2012, 2020, and 2024).
The match between Le Quoc Phong and Dan Olaru is scheduled for 22:01 on August 1st. This encounter presents a significant challenge for Quoc Phong, given Olaru’s experience and higher ranking. However, the event offers an exciting opportunity for the Vietnamese archer to compete against a well-established opponent on the international stage.
