In the latest transfer news from the V-League, Nigerian forward Augustine Chidi Kwem has officially signed a contract with Hanoi FC after a successful trial period. Previously, several agents had introduced Chidi Kwem to the V-League, and the 1.87-meter tall striker ultimately chose the capital club as his new destination.
Augustine Chidi Kwem, who holds Nigerian nationality, has spent most of his career playing in South Africa. In his most recent season, he scored seven goals for AmaZulu FC. However, following the end of the season, Chidi Kwem parted ways with the South African club.
For the 2024/2025 season, Hanoi FC will not be participating in any international competitions, which means they are limited to using only three foreign players. Alongside Augustine Chidi Kwem, the former V-League champions have retained Tim Hall and are actively seeking to sign one more foreign player.
Chidi Kwem’s arrival at Hanoi FC is part of a broader trend among V-League clubs to recruit new foreign players who have not previously played in Vietnam. Many “new faces” have been signed by various clubs recently, and it is expected that more foreign players will arrive in Vietnam before the V-League kicks off on September 14, 2024.
This signing reflects Hanoi FC’s strategy to strengthen their squad with fresh talent as they aim to reclaim their dominance in the domestic league. Fans of Hanoi FC will be eager to see how Chidi Kwem integrates into the team and contributes to their success in the upcoming season.
