This evening (August 22) at 7:30 PM, Hanoi Police FC will face Buriram United in their opening match of the 2024/2025 ASEAN Club Championship at Hang Day Stadium. This match marks the start of the group stage, where Hanoi Police FC will face a tough challenge against one of Southeast Asia’s strongest teams.
The luck of the draw has placed Hanoi Police FC in the same group as Buriram United, a powerhouse in Thai and Southeast Asian football. This will undoubtedly be a significant test for coach Alexandre Polking and his team.
However, Hanoi Police FC holds certain advantages going into this match. Over the summer transfer window, the club secured several high-quality domestic and international signings, significantly strengthening their squad. Additionally, playing on home turf with the support of their passionate fans gives them a psychological edge. Most importantly, Hanoi Police FC is led by Coach Alexandre Polking, who has extensive experience in Thai football and a deep understanding of Buriram United.
In the pre-match press conference, Coach Polking expressed confidence in his team’s abilities. “Buriram United has a strong squad, but we also have many quality players like Quang Hai, Viet Anh, and Van Duc. Buriram has several top foreign players, but we have studied them well. Hanoi Police FC will fight with all our heart for our colors and for our fans,” Polking stated.
Echoing his coach’s sentiments, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai also conveyed confidence ahead of the showdown with the Thai giants. “Hanoi Police FC has had a month to prepare for this match. We hope to put on a good performance and dedicate it to our fans,” Quang Hai said.
Quang Hai further elaborated: “After watching footage and analyzing Buriram United, the coaching staff held meetings to break down our opponents. They are a strong team, and we respect them, but with home advantage and solid preparation, I believe we can achieve a good result in this match.”
On the other side, Buriram United’s head coach, Osmar Loss, acknowledged that his team is well-prepared for the match and is aiming for a positive result against Hanoi Police FC. The Brazilian coach noted: “We haven’t fully assessed Hanoi Police FC’s strengths yet, but we will play our style of football. The absence of Theerathon Bunmathan is a big loss for us, but we have quality players ready to step up and secure a good result.”
The match between Hanoi Police FC and Buriram United promises to be an exciting encounter, as both teams are known for their attacking style and represent two of the strongest football cultures in Southeast Asia. Fans can expect an intense game with plenty of goal-scoring opportunities.
The match will kick off at 7:30 PM tonight (August 22) at Hang Day Stadium.
