Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) is determined to continue their strong start in the 2024/2025 V-League season as they prepare to face Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) in their second-round match. After a commanding 4-0 victory over Quang Nam in their opening game, HAGL currently sits at the top of the league standings, setting the stage for an exciting home clash.
In the upcoming fixture, scheduled for September 21, HAGL will host SLNA at Pleiku Stadium. This match holds added significance as it will be the first time the Pleiku Stadium hosts a match with Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology. HAGL is eager to make a strong impression in front of their home crowd and maintain their top position.
On their official Facebook page, HAGL expressed their enthusiasm and called on their supporters to turn out in force: “This Saturday (21/9), blood runs to the heart. We invite all fans to Pleiku Stadium to support our beloved team. HAGL will face SLNA in a battle to keep our place at the top.”
In the 2024 summer transfer window, HAGL opted for stability, making only minimal changes to their squad. The team primarily relies on players developed through their own academy, a testament to their long-term investment in youth talent.
Similarly, SLNA also made few significant changes during the transfer window, leading to a fairly balanced match-up in terms of squad strength. However, playing at home gives HAGL a slight advantage, especially with the Pleiku crowd behind them.
In the 2023/2024 season, HAGL secured a vital 1-0 victory over SLNA, which played a crucial role in helping them avoid relegation. Speaking with Vietnam Sports News, HAGL’s Technical Director, Vu Tien Thanh, who is registered in this role for the new season, emphasized the team’s goals: “HAGL will aim to finish in the top six of the 2024/2025 season.”
As both teams prepare for this highly anticipated clash, the result could set the tone for their campaigns moving forward. A win for HAGL would not only solidify their position at the top of the league but also provide momentum as they aim for a strong finish this season.
