Binh Phuoc Stadium has been selected to host the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 national cup

The 2024-2025 National Cup is set to officially kick off on October 19 and 20, with the opening ceremony taking place at the Binh Phuoc Stadium ahead of the match between the home team and Tre TP.HCM. According to the VPF’s announcement, the tournament’s first round will feature several intriguing matchups.

A total of 11 First Division teams will compete in the first round, including Dong Thap, Dong Nai, Hoa Binh, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Hue, Binh Phuoc, Tre TP.HCM, Khanh Hoa, PVF, Long An, and Ninh Binh. They will be joined by seven V-League representatives: Ha Tinh, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Binh Duong, CLB TP.HCM, and Binh Dinh.

One of the notable aspects of this first round is that four V-League teams will face off against each other early on, with Binh Dinh taking on Binh Duong and Quang Nam meeting Hai Phong. Other V-League clubs also face challenging opponents right from the start, such as CLB TP.HCM, which will host Ninh Binh, a club recently reinforced by significant investment from bầu Thụy.

Long An, under coach Tran Duy Quang, will play at home but face a tough challenge against Ha Tinh. Similarly, Quang Nam will host Hai Phong, while Da Nang will travel to face Hoa Binh in an away match.

This opening round of the National Cup offers an opportunity for First Division teams to warm up before their league competition begins at the end of October. Additionally, there are “wild cards” among the V-League teams, such as Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Binh Dinh, who are currently struggling in the lower ranks of the V-League. It will be interesting to see if these teams will adjust their strategies to balance their efforts in both competitions.
