Vietnam women’s futsal team dominates Indonesia with a 5 stars win

Continuing their stellar start at the 2024 Southeast Asian Women’s Futsal Championship, the Vietnam women’s futsal team secured an emphatic 5-0 victory over Indonesia in their second group match on November 18.

Fresh from their opening-day triumph against Myanmar, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang’s squad entered the game with high confidence. Right from the first whistle, Vietnam asserted dominance and opened the scoring in the very first minute. Nguyen Phuong Anh found the back of the net following an impressive combination play with Thanh Hang.

The Vietnamese side doubled their lead by the 5th minute through a precise header from Bui Thi Trang. Just a minute later, Bui Thi Trang struck again to complete her brace, capitalizing on a well-delivered cross by Thanh Hang.

Trailing 3-0, Indonesia pushed forward in search of a comeback, leaving spaces for Vietnam to exploit on counterattacks. In the 12th minute, Thuy Trang set up Bien Thi Hang, who made it 4-0 with a clinical finish. The first half ended with Vietnam in total control.

In the second half, Vietnam made several substitutions, giving their reserve players valuable match time. Notably, goalkeeper Thuy Linh was replaced by Hai Yen. While these changes reduced Vietnam’s dominance, the defensive efforts of Hai Yen kept Indonesia at bay with two crucial saves.

In the final minutes, Indonesia opted for a power-play strategy, aiming to close the gap. However, their aggression backfired as Thanh Ngan took advantage of an open net to score Vietnam’s fifth goal in the 38th minute, sealing the 5-0 victory.

This comprehensive win not only showcased Vietnam’s attacking prowess but also underlined their defensive solidity and tactical depth.

The team will face hosts Philippines in their third match tomorrow, looking to maintain their perfect record in the tournament.
