In preparation for the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship qualifiers, the Vietnam women’s futsal team held their second training match at Thai Son Nam Arena, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. The team faced the men’s futsal club Xa Store and ended the match with a 2-2 draw.
In the first half, the Vietnamese women’s futsal team took an early lead with a goal from Bui Thi Trang, capitalizing on a precise pass from captain Thanh Hang. Despite their efforts to double the score, they conceded an equalizer in the final minute of the half after a swift counterattack by their opponents.
In the second half, the Vietnamese team once again demonstrated their resilience by regaining the lead at 2-1 through a shot by Tu Anh that deflected off an opposing player into the net. However, in an open game with chances for both sides, the team allowed another equalizer midway through the half. In the closing minutes, head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang deployed a power-play strategy to push for a victory, but the team was unable to find the winning goal and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang expressed satisfaction with the match, viewing it as a final assessment before the team embarks on their campaign. “The coaching staff is pleased with the game. We attacked well and created numerous opportunities, but our defense still showed some vulnerabilities. We will address and correct these issues to ensure the team is in optimal shape before the competition,” he stated.
The final squad list is expected to be announced on January 12 before the team departs on January 13 for the qualifiers. The 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship qualifiers will take place from January 15 to 19. Vietnam is grouped with Macau (China), Taiwan (China), and hosts Myanmar. The team will face Myanmar on January 15, Macau on January 17, and Taiwan on January 19, aiming to secure their spot in the main tournament.
