Hoang Anh Gia Lai recently announced on their official website that the dispute with player Martin Dzilah has been resolved amicably.
The club stated, “On the afternoon of January 11, 2025, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Martin Dzilah reached an agreement to resolve their dispute. The club will arrange a visa and provide an airline ticket for Martin Dzilah to return to his home country at the earliest convenience.”
Martin Dzilah had filed a complaint with FIFA, requesting the lifting of Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s domestic and international transfer ban. The Ghanaian player joined Hoang Anh Gia Lai in October 2023 but only played three matches, totaling 225 minutes. His performance did not meet expectations, and he suffered a long-term injury, prompting the club to decide on parting ways.
On March 21, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Dzilah agreed on a compensation amount of $20,000. The player accepted the payment and signed an agreement. However, Dzilah later reneged on the agreement and filed a complaint with FIFA.
FIFA requested documentation from both parties to address the dispute, with a submission deadline of July 18, 2024. On August 30, FIFA ruled in favor of Dzilah, ordering Hoang Anh Gia Lai to pay $29,000 plus interest due to delayed responses. The club was given 45 days to comply with the ruling to avoid further sanctions, including an international transfer ban.
After months of negotiations, the issue was finally resolved on January 11, with both sides reaching a mutual understanding. Hoang Anh Gia Lai confirmed that this resolution paves the way for FIFA to lift the global transfer ban imposed on the club.
This settlement ends a prolonged saga and allows Hoang Anh Gia Lai to refocus on its operations and future roster developments without the constraints of transfer restrictions.
