Hanoi FC changes head coach right before the Lunar New Year

On the final day of the Lunar Year 2024, Hanoi FC appointed Hoang Van Phuc as the interim head coach, replacing incumbent Le Duc Tuan.

At the start of the 2024-2025 season, Hanoi FC had appointed Le Duc Tuan as head coach. Born in 1982 in Hanoi, Tuan had previously managed the team in two matches during the 2023-2024 season. After 11 rounds of the V-League, the six-time V-League champions achieved 3 wins, 6 draws, and 2 losses, the most recent being a defeat to Hoang Anh Gia Lai. In that match, Dinh Hai received a red card, and Tuan Hai missed a penalty late in the game.

This loss cost Hanoi FC the chance to break into the top 3 of the V-League standings after round 11. They currently sit in fourth place with 17 points, one point behind third-placed The Cong Viettel. On the afternoon of January 28, the club’s management announced that coach Le Duc Tuan and his staff would transition to new roles at the Hanoi Youth Football Training Center. At the same time, the club selected veteran coach Hoang Van Phuc to serve as interim head coach starting January 31, when the team reconvenes for training during the third day of the Lunar New Year At Ty.

It is noted that former Vietnam national team head coach Hoang Van Phuc has been the technical director at Hanoi FC for many years. He has contributed to several achievements, including championships in the U-19 National Tournament (2022), U-21 National Tournament (2022, 2024), and the club’s first-ever U-17 National Championship title in 2024, 15 years after the Hanoi Youth Football Training Center was established.
