Vietnam Tet atmosphere in Barcelona stadium

Vietnamese freestyle footballer Do Kim Phuc delivered a spectacular performance during halftime at the LaLiga match between FC Barcelona and Alaves on February 2, captivating tens of thousands of fans at Olympic Lluís Companys Stadium.

During his performance, Do Kim Phuc showcased an array of advanced freestyle tricks set to the music of “One peaceful new year” by Vietnamese singer Son Tung M-TP. The inclusion of this Vietnamese New Year song was a deliberate choice to bring the festive spirit of Tet Nguyen Dan (Lunar New Year) to one of the world’s most prestigious football stages.

Bringing Vietnamese Culture to LaLiga

A highlight of Do Kim Phuc’s performance was his creative incorporation of Vietnamese traditional elements. Wearing a traditional non la (Vietnamese conical hat), he performed freestyle tricks while balancing the ball on a peach blossom branch, symbolizing Vietnamese New Year. This unique cultural blend delighted the crowd, who responded with enthusiastic applause.

At the end of his performance, Kim Phuc gifted the conical hat and flowers to young Barcelona fans, further strengthening the connection between Vietnamese culture and international football audiences.

Overcoming Challenges to Perform on a Grand Stage

Reflecting on his performance, Do Kim Phuc shared his excitement and challenges:
“I had to prepare meticulously, as I was the first-ever Vietnamese performer to showcase skills at Olympic Lluís Companys Stadium. Barcelona is a world-class club, so I had to ensure everything was perfect.”

However, the performance was not without its difficulties. The pitch was wet from pre-match watering, making the surface slippery. Additionally, the ball provided by LaLiga organizers was a display model rather than a competition-grade freestyle ball, affecting control and precision. Despite these obstacles, Kim Phuc successfully completed his routine, proudly waving the Vietnamese flag at one of the world’s most iconic football venues.

Becoming LaLiga’s Official Ambassador in Vietnam

Adding to his landmark achievements, Do Kim Phuc was officially appointed as LaLiga’s brand ambassador in Vietnam. This new role will allow him to act as a bridge between Spanish football and Vietnamese fans, promoting LaLiga to a wider audience in Vietnam.

To commemorate this honor, LaLiga President Javier Tebas personally met with Kim Phuc, presenting him with a special gift and assuring him of future collaborations. The partnership is expected to create more opportunities for Do Kim Phuc to interact with LaLiga clubs and players while further expanding LaLiga’s presence in Vietnam.

Next Stop: Real Sociedad’s Stadium

Following his memorable performance at Barcelona’s stadium, Do Kim Phuc will continue his freestyle tour in LaLiga, performing at Real Sociedad’s home match against Espanyol on February 10.

He has promised to deliver another captivating performance, once again showcasing the beauty of Vietnamese culture and freestyle football to a global audience.

With his talent and growing international recognition, Do Kim Phuc continues to make Vietnam proud, cementing his status as one of the country’s top freestyle football ambassadors on the world stage.
