Nguyen Xuan Son honored after ASEAN Cup 2024

Fresh off his heroic performance in the ASEAN Cup 2024, Nguyen Xuan Son has been honored as the Player of the Month for January 2025 in the V-League 2024/2025. The Nam Dinh FC forward’s stellar form in domestic and international competitions has earned him widespread recognition, despite suffering a season-ending injury.

Nguyen Xuan Son’s impact on Vietnamese football in early 2025 has been nothing short of remarkable. He played a pivotal role in Vietnam’s ASEAN Cup triumph, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer while leading the national team to glory on Thai soil. However, his campaign was cut short when he sustained a serious injury in the final, forcing him to miss the rest of the V-League season.

Before his injury, Xuan Son had been a dominant force for Nam Dinh FC, consistently delivering match-winning performances. His impressive goal-scoring streak significantly contributed to Nam Dinh’s success in the league. As a result, in the January 2025 Player of the Month voting, he was the overwhelming choice for the award.

According to the V-League organizers, Xuan Son’s award was based on performances spanning rounds 6 to 11 and an early match from round 12. During this period, he scored five goals, including a hat-trick against Binh Duong and a brace against Da Nang, proving instrumental in Nam Dinh FC’s strong showing.

It was a memorable month for Nam Dinh FC, as they swept multiple accolades in the January 2025 awards. The club was voted “Best Club of the Month”, reflecting their impressive performances and consistency. Head coach Vu Hong Viet was also honored as “Coach of the Month”, recognizing his tactical expertise and ability to guide the team to a strong position in the league.

The “Goal of the Month” award went to Ngoc Long of Ho Chi Minh City FC, thanks to his stunning strike against Hanoi Police FC in round 8. His long-range effort captured the attention of fans and analysts alike, securing him the prestigious award.

While the Player of the Month award is a testament to Xuan Son’s incredible form, it comes with a sense of disappointment, as he will not be able to continue his outstanding season due to injury. The Nam Dinh FC forward had been on track for one of the best individual seasons in recent V-League history, and his absence will be a significant blow to both his club and Vietnamese football.

Despite his setback, Xuan Son’s achievements in January 2025 serve as a reminder of his talent and influence on the pitch. Fans will now eagerly await his return in the next season, hoping he can pick up where he left off and continue to dominate Vietnamese football.
