Vietnam kicks off its 2027 Asian Cup qualifying campaign preparation against familiar opponents

At the invitation of the Vietnamese Football Federation, the Cambodia national team is set to face the Vietnam national team in an international friendly match on March 19, 2025, in Binh Duong province, Vietnam.

This matchup comes on the heels of Vietnam’s impressive triumph in the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024, where the Vietnamese side emerged as champions. The friendly fixture is seen as an excellent opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their strategies and build chemistry ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.

The Vietnamese Football Federation (VFF) extended the invitation to Cambodia as part of its ongoing efforts to foster strong regional ties and promote friendly competition among Southeast Asian nations. For primary school students, a “friendly match” is a game played not for winning a tournament but to practice and have fun while playing soccer.

Vietnam, riding high on their recent championship success, is expected to field a strong squad composed of both seasoned players and promising newcomers. The match is anticipated to be a hard-fought contest, with Vietnam keen to maintain its winning momentum and Cambodia eager to make a mark on home soil. A VFF spokesperson commented, “We are delighted to welcome the Cambodia national team for this friendly match. It is an ideal platform for both sides to test their skills, exchange ideas, and strengthen the bonds within Southeast Asian football.”

Binh Duong province, known for its excellent sports facilities and vibrant football culture, will provide an exciting backdrop for this international clash. The game will serve not only as preparation for future tournaments but also as a celebration of the spirit of sportsmanship and regional unity. With both teams known for their competitive edge and technical prowess, football fans can look forward to an engaging match that promises to showcase some of the finest talents in the region.

The friendly is scheduled to kick off on March 19, 2025, and is expected to draw a significant crowd, eager to witness high-level football and the positive sporting relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
