Nam Dinh, March 31, 2025 – Nam Dinh FC has officially terminated the contract of Brazilian midfielder Hendrio, marking the end of his impactful tenure with the club, as confirmed by the latest V-League 2024/2025 transfer updates. The decision follows Nam Dinh’s earlier move to exclude Hendrio from their squad registration for the second half of the season, a step that left the 30-year-old sidelined without a loan option to another club.
With the mid-season transfer window closed as of March 12, Hendrio and Nam Dinh reached a mutual agreement to end his contract early, freeing him from the remaining term, originally set to expire in June 2025. During his time with the Thanh Nam side, Hendrio was a linchpin, featuring in 53 matches across all competitions, scoring 16 goals, and providing 21 assists. His synergy with striker Nguyen Xuan Son—another Brazilian-turned-Vietnamese citizen—was instrumental in Nam Dinh’s historic V-League 2023/2024 title triumph, their first in the top flight since 1985. Together, the duo terrorized defenses, with Hendrio’s playmaking flair complementing Son’s finishing.
Nam Dinh’s decision to part ways stems from a crowded midfield and a strategic shift. Despite Hendrio’s contributions, Coach Vu Hong Viet opted to prioritize other foreign talents like Romulo and Caio Cesar, alongside new signing Kevin Pham Ba, a French-Vietnamese player, for the season’s latter stages and AFC Champions League commitments. Hendrio’s exclusion from the roster—limited to three foreign players per V-League match—left him in limbo, prompting the mutual split.
Now a free agent, Hendrio can negotiate with other clubs, but he’s barred from playing in Vietnam’s V-League or National First Division for the remainder of 2024/2025 due to the closed transfer period. Speculation swirls around his next move—Binh Dinh FC had shown interest earlier, eyeing his creativity to bolster their relegation fight, though financial constraints stalled talks. Hendrio, who joined Nam Dinh from Binh Dinh in 2023 after two years there, boasts a V-League record of 25 goals in 77 games since arriving in Vietnam in 2021.
Posts on X also hint at Hendrio’s potential naturalization, which could see him eligible for Vietnam’s national team by late 2025, aligning with Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers. For now, the Brazilian bids farewell to Thien Truong Stadium, leaving a legacy as a key architect of Nam Dinh’s golden era.
